Sixteen years at CDP: building Supply Chain with colleagues, then leading the global commercial business and partnerships.
Explore the recordThe full leadership remit
Commercial leadership at global scale

I joined CDP in 2008. From 2017 to 2024, I led its global commercial business, spanning company services, strategic partnerships and market-facing products. I left as Chief Commercial & Partnerships Officer.
Supply Chain was a defining part of that wider remit. I built and led the programme with colleagues and partners, bringing major buyers and thousands of suppliers together on climate, water and forests.

The programmes we built
Climate, water, forests, targets and finance—connected through the supply chain
The reports document a programme that kept developing: adding water and forests, assessing supplier engagement, supporting targets and connecting environmental performance with finance.
A new mechanism for buyer-led climate action
Dexter helped start and then scale CDP Supply Chain: a system through which major purchasing organisations could use disclosure, data and engagement to move suppliers.
Connecting disclosure with opportunities to act
Dexter launched Action Exchange in 2013 to accelerate supply-chain emissions reductions. It extended the programme’s focus towards identifying opportunities for suppliers to act.
Water enters the supply chain
The CDP–BSR institutional record dates the water programme’s pilot launch to 2013. It extended buyer-led engagement beyond carbon and into water risk, stewardship and resilience.
Turning ambition into a supplier-level mechanism
CDP was a founding partner in the 2015 launch of the Science Based Targets initiative. Dexter’s published work then connected science-based targets to the practical task of engaging suppliers at scale.
The sustainable supply-chain finance proposition
In 2016, Dexter announced CDP’s plan to develop a lending programme offering preferential finance for suppliers’ low-carbon projects—an early proposition that became a global class of incentive.
Making buyer engagement visible
Dexter developed the Supplier Engagement Rating with colleagues. It assessed how companies engaged their suppliers on climate, with the first leaderboard published in 2017. Recognition gave buyers a reason to strengthen their programmes; the rating was not a direct measure of verified emissions reductions.
Forests joins climate and water
CDP expanded the programme to forests under Dexter’s Supply Chain leadership, with eight major buyers. It brought climate, water and deforestation into a combined programme for engaging suppliers.
From a gigaton ambition to finance-linked incentives
Dexter’s public work around Walmart’s Project Gigaton connected a billion-tonne supply-chain goal to supplier engagement. CDP later joined Walmart and HSBC to link financing terms to CDP scores and science-based targets.

The work continues
From disclosure,
to engagement,
to execution
At CDP, we made environmental performance part of the purchasing relationship. At EcoVadis, I bring that experience to helping companies cut supply-chain emissions and prepare for climate impacts.
